Make sure that you have an efficient raw water flow to your engine, by including a water strainer into the
suction line.  Even small dirt particles can damage the impeller of the water pump, or are the cause of
clogging-up in the cooling channels in the longer run.

The water strainer must be fitted above the waterline, so that there is no water intrusion when the seacock
is not closed while opening the filter.

Having a water strainer installed, this facilitates the adding of antifreeze to the raw water circuit, when
winterising the engine.  The filter element can easily be removed and cleaned and the transparent cover
enables an efficient checking of the water flow.
